Safety Alert Issued for Bladeless Hair Dryer Due to Fire Risk

By Safety Desk · 06 November 2026

UK authorities have recalled a leafless hair dryer after discovering internal wiring defects that pose a serious risk of fire to users.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a serious safety warning regarding a specific model of leafless hair dryer. Investigations revealed that the internal connections to the unit's power switch are inadequate for safe operation.

Technical assessments found that the device utilises wires soldered directly to the printed circuit board (PCB). This construction method, combined with poor overall connection quality, significantly increases the likelihood of an electrical short circuit or overheating during use, presenting a genuine fire hazard.

Procurement managers and trade buyers in the hospitality or personal care sectors should check their inventory for these unbranded appliances. If identified, the products should be removed from service immediately to prevent potential injury or property damage.

This recall highlights the ongoing importance of verifying that all electrical equipment meet British safety standards and possess robust internal build quality before deployment in commercial environments.
