Recall Issued for BESTEK Travel Power Converters Over Shock Risk

Safety authorities have issued a formal recall for the BESTEK Travel Power Converter, model MRJ203NU-WHBL-EU-E03, following reports of significant electrical safety failures. The device, designed for international voltage conversion across UK, US, EU, and AU outlets, was found to have insufficient insulation and no protective earth connection.

Testing revealed that the product does not meet the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive or European standards EN 61140 and EN 60338-1. These defects mean that accessible parts of the converter could become live during use, presenting a high risk of electric shock to anyone handling the unit.

Public authorities have ordered a total ban on marketing, a withdrawal of the product from the market, and a full recall from end users. The affected units were sold via major online platforms, including Amazon and eBay. Trade buyers and safety managers are advised to identify any such units in their inventory or staff travel kits and remove them from service immediately.
