AI Platform BackOps Secures $42m to Close Supply Chain Gaps

BackOps has secured Series B funding to scale its 'Relay' platform, moving beyond simple supply chain visibility toward autonomous resolution of logistical bottlenecks.
Supply chain technology firm BackOps has announced a US$42m Series B funding round, led by Insight Partners, to expand its AI-native operations platform. The investment marks a strategic shift for the company as it seeks to address the 'Resolution Gap'—the delay between identifying a supply chain disruption and actually executing a fix.
While many modern procurement and logistics tools provide dashboards for visibility, they often require human operators to manually resolve issues through emails, calls, and paperwork. BackOps aims to automate these workflows using its 'Relay' solution, which learns internal business processes to execute tasks autonomously rather than just flagging errors.
The platform has already demonstrated significant efficiency gains for early adopters. One user reported reducing a 28-hour billing cycle to just 14 minutes, while others have used the system to process over $136m in claims. The technology is designed to integrate across complex ecosystems, standardising operations despite varying global legislations and geopolitical pressures.
For UK procurement and supply chain managers, this development signals a move away from 'control tower' visibility towards active autonomous management. As businesses face increasing pressure from climate change and skills shortages, adopting tools that resolve bottlenecks without manual intervention is becoming a critical component of resilient sourcing and logistics strategy.
